During the Whisky & Gin tasting experience, you will learn the importance of using locally sourced water and why the type of cask plays such a significant role in the ageing process of a whisky. You will learn about the different flavours and aromas that come with each batch of whisky.

As soon as you step inside our distillery, your senses will be awakened by the rich and inviting aroma of our expertly crafted whiskies. Our founder, Greg, or one of his team members, will greet you warmly and lead you to your table. The distillery’s breath taking beauty, both inside and out, will provide the perfect backdrop as you embark on a unique tasting experience. Before indulging in a flight of our highly sought-after whiskies, we’ll take you on a journey through our distillery’s history and the flavours that make our whiskies so exceptional.

Witness the transformation of malted barley mash into the exquisite spirit that will eventually mature into our signature whisky, all while marvelling at the bubbling copper still affectionately named “Matilda”. You’ll gain an insider’s knowledge of our distillation process, starting with selecting the finest ingredients and ending with the ageing process that gives our whiskies their distinct characteristics. With your newfound understanding, you’ll savour each expression of our whisky flight, revelling in the depth and complexity of our signature blends.

As you join us for a tasting session, we will take you on a journey through the distinct qualities of our single malt expressions. Our team will delve into the various casks utilised in the ageing process and how they contribute to the final outcome of each bottle. Our primary objective is to provide you with an educational and enjoyable experience, enabling you to develop a profound appreciation for the craft of whisky-making and the exceptional flavours inherent in each expression.

After indulging in the delightful whisky-tasting session, guests are invited to purchase a bottle of their choice as a keepsake of their visit. The Story of your local Devon Whisky Distillery:

Several years ago, a group of whisky aficionados embarked on a remarkable journey to the remote Hebrides island of Islay, where they aimed to create their own exclusive blend of whisky. Having achieved success, they were left pondering why Devon, with its optimal conditions for growing barley, natural spring water purified through granite, and pristine air quality, had yet to establish a whisky distillery.

Devon proudly boasts of outstanding local producers, such as the traditional barley malting house Warminster Maltings, and a varied selection of cask beer brewers. All the ingredients necessary for producing a premium single malt whisky are present in Devon.

Motivated by his prior experience at Bruichladdich Distillery in 2009, Greg Millar, the founder, was inspired to bring his vision of Dartmoor Whisky to life. And with the help of Simon Crow, the Dartmoor Whisky Distillery was born and has since thrived.

The Landscape of Dartmoor

The natural beauty of Dartmoor National Park is unparalleled, offering a vast array of scenic wonders to behold. The rugged moorlands blend seamlessly with the rolling hills, while ancient woodlands are home to meandering streams. It is within this idyllic landscape that Dartmoor Whisky is crafted, using only the finest ingredients sourced exclusively from the park.

The barley used in the distillation process thrives in the fertile soils of the park, and the pristine spring water is sourced from the meandering streams that flow through the moorlands.

The distillery, situated in Bovey Tracey, utilises traditional methods to create a whisky that is truly one of a kind. Each batch is meticulously crafted in small quantities, ensuring that every bottle possesses its unique character and flavour.

The distillery welcomes visitors to experience the art of whisky making through guided tours that provide in-depth insight into the rich history and traditions of the production process. From the rolling hills to the sparkling streams, Dartmoor to our distillery, situated in Bovey Tracey.
