The Ultimate Whisky Distillery Tour
Upon entering the distillery, you will be enveloped by the warm, rich aroma of our carefully crafted whiskies. As you wander through the doors, you’ll be greeted with a warm welcome from our founder, Greg, or one of his team members. They’ll show you to your table, where you’ll be surrounded by the stunning beauty of the distillery and its surroundings. Before diving into the flight of our whisky expressions, we’ll guide you through a tasting experience that will take you through the history and flavours of our distillery. You’ll discover the intricacies of our whisky-making process, from the selection of the finest ingredients to the careful ageing process that imbues our whiskies with their unique character. Then, you’ll be ready to indulge in the delights of our whisky flight, savouring each expression and relishing in the depth and complexity of our whiskies.
As you step into our distillery, you’ll immediately notice the distinct aroma of malted barley. Our team will welcome you and guide you to the viewing area where you’ll be able to watch the distillation process in action. You’ll see our copper still, affectionately named “Matilda”, bubbling away as the malted barley mash is transformed into the spirit that will eventually become our whisky.
During the tasting session, we’ll guide you through the unique characteristics of each of our single malt expressions. You’ll learn about the different casks that we use for aging and how they affect the final product. We’ll also share with you some of the history and traditions behind whisky-making in Scotland and how we bring those elements into our process here at Dartmoor. We aim to make this an informative and enjoyable experience, allowing you to fully appreciate the art of whisky-making and the unique flavours that each expression brings.
Upon completion of the whisky tasting experience, visitors are given the opportunity to purchase a bottle of their choice to take home as a memento of their visit. As a gesture of appreciation for their attendance, visitors are offered a £5 discount off the purchase price of any bottle they choose to take home on the day. This provides a unique opportunity for visitors to purchase a bottle of their favourite whisky, or perhaps to try something new and exciting. For those who do not wish to participate in the whisky tasting experience or who are designated drivers, the ticket price includes a complimentary soft drink. We understand that not everyone may be interested in whisky, and we want to ensure that all visitors feel welcome and included. Please let our team know upon arrival if you require a soft drink rather than a whisky tasting. We want to ensure that everyone has an enjoyable experience at our distillery and that all visitors are able to take away a special souvenir of their visit.

The Story of your local Devon Whisky Distillery:
A few years ago, a group of whisky enthusiasts embarked on a journey to the Hebrides island of Islay to create their own unique blend of whisky. After their successful venture, they were left puzzled as to why Devon, with its prime barley-growing conditions, natural spring water filtered through granite, and pure air quality, had yet to establish a whisky distillery.
Devon boasts of exceptional local producers, such as the traditional barley malting house Warminster Maltings, and a diverse array of cask beer brewers. All the necessary components for crafting a top-quality single malt whisky can be found in Devon.
Inspired by his previous experience at Bruichladdich Distillery in 2009, founder Greg Millar was driven to bring his vision of Dartmoor Whisky to life. With the help of Simon Crow, the Dartmoor Whisky Distillery was established and has since flourished.
The Landscape of Dartmoor
Dartmoor National Park boasts a stunningly picturesque landscape, with a wide ranage of natural wonders to behold. Its rugged moorlands seamlessly merge with the rolling hills, while ancient woodlands are traversed by sparkling streams. It is in this idyllic environment that Dartmoor Whisky is crafted, exclusively using premium ingredients sourced from the park itself.
The barley used in the distillation process flourishes in the fertile soils of the park, while the pristine spring water is sourced from the meandering streams that flow through the moorlands. The distillery, situated in Bovey Tracey, the gateway to Dartmoor, employs traditional methods to create a whisky that is truly inimitable. Each batch is meticulously crafted in small quantities, ensuring that every bottle possesses its unique character and flavour. The distillery welcomes visitors, offering guided tours that delve into the rich history and traditions of whisky production.
