Our Building

Dartmoor Whisky Distillery is based in Bovey Tracey Town Hall, a stunning Grade II listed space that was built in 1866.

Set on an island in the heart of Bovey Tracey, our distillery is positioned at the gateway to the wild and rugged Dartmoor where we take our inspiration – and ingredients – from.

Over the last 150 years, the building has had a myriad of different uses. It was once a fire station, a cinema, a civic hall and most recently was home to the town council. With plans for Bovey Tracey Town Council to relocate to a new purpose-built civic centre, the Town Hall became increasingly redundant and in need of a new lease of life.

We knew that the historic building would make the perfect home for our distillery, and so we bought it, restored its heritage and gave it a new purpose once again as the home of Devon’s first whisky distillery.

Dartmoor Whisky Distillery is based inside a historic building with communal seating in a rustic setting.
