The story of your local Southwest Distillery: Dartmoor Whisky Distillery  

Years ago, a group of whisky enthusiasts embarked on an adventurous journey to the remote Islay in the Hebrides to create their own unique whisky. Upon returning, they wondered why Devon, with its ideal climate and soil for barley growth, clear spring water filtered through granite, and exceptional air quality, had yet to establish its own whisky distillery. 

Devon is home to exceptional local producers such as Warminster Maltings, a traditional barley malting house, and a variety of cask beer brewers. All the necessary ingredients for a premium single malt whisky can be found in Devon.  

In 2009, Greg Millar, who had previously worked at Bruichladdich Distillery, was inspired to create Dartmoor Whisky. Thanks to the assistance of Simon Crow, the Dartmoor Whisky Distillery was established, providing a local southwest distillery for all to enjoy.
