While you might be tempted to go for white wine or beer in the summer sunshine, whisky can also be a refreshing summertime tipple, especially in a Dartmoor Whisky Smash Cocktail. While the heat is beating down, you might not want to sip on a rich, heavily sherried dram, but instead, choose to enjoy your single malt in new and seasonal ways. Whether you’re relaxing in the sun after a long day or hanging out with friends or family at a barbecue, enjoy the new Dartmoor Whisky Smash Cocktail developed by our friends at Margoux in Exeter.

This cocktail takes our Ex-Bourbon Single Malt Whisky (which recently won 2 stars in the 2022 Great Taste awards), adds a squeeze of fresh zingy lemon, sweetened with simple syrup and a dash of Angostura Bitters, before topping up with some soda for a subtle fizz. Finally,  garnish with a lemon curl and a sprig of mint for a cool summer sipper that’s great shared with friends.

The Dartmoor Whisky Smash Cocktail was designed with summer in mind by the bar manager at Margoux in Princesshay in Exeter. Margoux is a swanky cocktail bar and restaurant with stunning views of Exeter Cathedral serving up fantastic menu and of course, Dartmoor Whisky.

Here is the recipe for you to give it a try at home.
